7th Ofalla Amichi Beckons as Chief Ume-Ezeoke Bags Prestigious Award.

All is set for the 7th Ofalla festival of His Royal Highness, Barr. Dr. Ofobuike Alphonsus Ezeoke (Igwe Eneke Amichi), the traditional ruler of Amichi town in Nnewi south local government area of Anambra State.

The prestigious biannual traditional event billed for 2nd January 2022 by 1pm, shall as usual be filled with pomp and pageantry.

Cultural displays and highly distinguished guests have already communicated their presence.

The highlight of the royal event shall be the special reception and award of special recognition put together in honor of High Chief Sir Ifechukwu Anthony Ume-Ezeoke (Onowu Onye Ji Igu Amichi). The New York based CEO of Igu Integrated Resources Limited who bagged the “Onowu” title during the last Ofalla festival in 2020 has been once again penciled for this award as sanctioned by the Igwe of the community.

It is not surprising, owing to the numerous contributions of Chief Ume-Ezeoke within the community and beyond. Onowu Onye Ji Igu Amichi who is also a Knight of the Catholic Church in the order of St John International, has continued to break new grounds in community service with establishment of a foundation to cater for the widows and orphans in the memory of his late father Chief Pope Ume-Ezeoke who was a renowned community leader in Amichi.

Speaking to our correspondent Modestus Igweka, Sir Ume-Ezeoke said “I shall continue to do everything humanly possible within my reach to ensure that I better the lots of Ndi Amichi. There is no other town we can call ours. What is important among us is peace and love, only then can meaningful development set in. Every Onye Amichi should ensure that he’s making the next person to smile, no matter how small. It’s not all about money, you could make someone smile with good attitude, seeing everyone else as your brother and sister. It’s only Amichi that we can call ours. AMICHI AMAKA”, the elated Onowu loudly concluded.

Another special award recipient on the Ofalla day is Chief Akai Egwuonwu(Ume Ebubeagu Amichi), the CEO of Stine Industries Limited, the makers of Stinerice and Anambra rice.

On the Ofalla festival, the personal assistant to Igwe Ofobuike, Chief Eric Ezeoke while speaking to our correspondent said “HRH Dr Barrister Ofobuike Alphonsus Ezeoke (Igwe Amichi) on January 2nd 2022 will celebrate his 7th Ofala festival as the custodian of culture and tradition in Amichi community at his Palace, Obiagu Amichi, Nnewi South, Anambra State. Therefore, Igwe Ofobuike Alphonsus Ezeoke enjoins all good citizen of Amichi and beyond to come and witness Igbo culture in a grand style.”
