AMICHI: Absconded Assailant Who Allegedly Murdered Aged Widow Arrested.
The naturally quiet GREAT ANYAEGBU DYNASTY of Umudim village in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State was thrown into confusion on 21st May 2020 as an aged widow Mrs Juliana Nwaneka Anyaegbu died from the merciless beating she received in the hands of one Amara Anyaegbu, a supposed nephew.
Trouble started the previous day when Amara Anyaegbu alongside her mother accused the deceased widow of encroaching and converting an ukwa tree which he claimed belonged to them.
The argument resulted in fiscuffs , which led the 36-year-old Amara Anyaegbu descended heavily on the aged widow , beating, tortured and dragged her all round, breaking her bones and limbs.
But in an exclusive audio obtained by our reporter, the deceased while reporting to her son, reminded him that it is the same ukwa tree that she has been harvesting with his husband over the years before he died. Unfortunately, that was the last discussion she had with the son before she died.
Learning that the woman had died as a result of the beating, the Assailant quickly ran away.
The men of the Nigeria Police swung into action upon the report lodged in by the Anyaegbu family. In a swift investigation, the Assailant Amara Anyaegbu was arrested in the hinterlands of Arondizuogu where he had ran to hide.
Currently, he is cooling off at the State Homicide Department Of Criminal Investigation Department, Anambra State Police Command.
He is set to be arraigned in court as soon as the JUSUN strike action abates and the courts reopen.
Meanwhile, police investigation continues as autopsy result is being awaited.
The shining light of Anyaegbu dynasty, Chief Dr Chidi Anyaegbu (MFR) has expressed disappointment over the ugly development, insisting that he will throw in every human and material resources to support the law enforcement agencies inovlved in the matter to ensure that justice is served.
