Dr. Ofobuike Alphonsus Ezeoke (Igwe Eneke Amichi) on 2nd February 2022.
Who is the Anambra Rice Boss?
Chief AKAI EGWUONWU (Ume Ebubeagu Amichi) is the MD/CEO of Stine Industries Limited producers of Stine Rice Gold, Heroes Gold and Anambra Rice. He is also the CEO of Gime Noodles Limited, De Zara Table Water, & Diet Feeds. Chief Akai has in recent time diversified into Oil and Gas with First Petroleum as the business nomenclature. We also look forward to his big name in the Shipping Industry as he has already established massively in that line of business.
Akai hails from Amichi, Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State and is the last son of Chief & Chief (Mrs) Egwuonwu. His parents were also industrialists that established Odiche Bread in 1958.
As a philanthropist and a big believer in human resource development at the grass root level, Akai supports the empowerment of rural dwellers to become micro entrepreneurs. He has made giant strides in this effort by anchoring numerous farmers, majority of whom are women. His various companies stand as off-takers to the farmers to guarantee them a ready market for all their produce at a good price, thereby creating a buffer against financial constraints that may result from low prices at the open market. Through the community outreach of his company, Akai has also trained over 300 youths of Nnewi-South on the modern best practices in fish farming.
Chief Akai is an industrialist per excellence and holds B.Sc Business Management from Western International university, Greenwich campus, London. And MBA International Business Management from the University of East London.
Chief Akai is no stranger to success, having successfully established various organizations and industries within Nigeria and the Diaspora and having more than 30 years of experience in managing Small & Medium Scale Enterprises.
Over the years, Chief Akai has worked closely with the Government and People of Anambra State especially in the area of ensuring food security and part of this achievement is the establishment of Anambra Rice, a truly Nigerian Brand with international standard and flavor.
Chief Akai is a recipient of numerous awards including Distinguished Personality of the year 2016 from the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Pillar of Education in Anambra State from Anambra State Students Association, Distinguished Agro Businessman of the year 2016 from the National Orientation Agency, Humanitarian Service Award from Rotary International, Icon of National & Youth Empowerment 2015 from Youths Solidarity Movement for Good Governance, Excellent Business Development Award by University of Nigeria Alumni Association, Ambassador of Human Development and Charity 2019 from Achievers Foundation and the prestigious Best Rice Miller of 2016.
Recently, he bagged an ECOWAS Award for his Bright Ideas, Entrepreneurship and Economic Management. He closed this year with an Award as the Southeast Businessmen of the Year from African Illustrious Awards.
He has also received awards from Federal and State Ministry of Agricultures, communities, NGOs, student groups, amongst others.
Despite his great achievements, Chief Akai is humility personified as he maintains a gentle personality and a simple lifestyle.
All sons and daughters of Amichi shall gather on February 2nd 2022 to honor a man who has accomplished all.
Many distinguished dignitaries are set to grace the occasion, according to the personal assistant to Igwe Ofobuike, Chief Eric Ezeoke.
