ANAMBRA PDP: Okoli-Akirika Becomes New State Secretary.
A former commissioner for Lands in Anambra state, Barr. C.J Okoli-Akirika has assumed office as the new secretary of Anambra state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP). Okoli-Akirika emerged the new secretary following the expulsion of the the former secretary Sir Emeka Obi and two other executives for antiparty activities.
A press statement from the Anambra State PDP Media Directorate made available to news men reads:
THE STATE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF PDP ANAMBRA CHAPTER AFFIRMS REPLACEMENT OF EXPELLED OFFICERS OF THE PARTY
“The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party Anambra State chapter has officially replaced three officers of the party indicted for engaging in anti party activities and expelled by the State Executive decision of 26th May, 2020.
This decision became necessary following petitions from the affected constituencies accusing them of anti party activities and gross insubordination to the party structure, hence the recommendation for their expulsion by the State Disciplinary Committee ably led by the first Chairman of PDP Awka South Chief Obi Aniagor.
The expulsion of Sir Emeka Obi (Former Secretary), Hon Mrs Calister Adimachukwu (Former Women Leader), Joachim Marcel Anyiam (Former Vice Chairman South Senatorial District) and their subsequent replacements from their respective LGAs is in line with the provisions of section 47 sub-section 6 of the PDP constitution 2017 as amended.
Based on this development, the following persons were nominated by their respective local government stakeholders to serve out the tenure of affected officers.
- Barr Chibunna John Okoli Akirika
State Secretary from Nnewi South - Chief Emmanuel Ebene
State Vice Chairman (South Senatorial District) from Orumba North - Mrs Justina Nwafor
State Women Leader from Nnewi North
The State Executive Council of PDP Anambra however affirmed the expulsion of the erring members as well as the confirmation of the nominees from the affected constituencies by a unanimous vote.
It is indeed a new dawn for PDP Anambra State considering that progress and victory for any political party is relatively determined by teamwork and peaceful relationship among members.”
Barr Chibunna John Okoli-Akirika hails from Amichi in Nnewi South local government area of Anambra state.
