BREAKING NEWS: ‘Certificate Of Recognition’ Returns To Awka As Govt Orders Fresh ADU Election.

The certificate of recognition purportedly issued in error as admitted by the Anambra State ministry of local government and Chieftaincy Affairs has been returned to the ministry in Awka by the recipient, Chief Cletus Udebuani and others.

Confirming the development, a source from the ministry told our reporter; “yes, the certificate was returned not too long ago. Hon commissioner order for the immediate return of the certificate, having admitted that he relied on an erroneous information to issue the certificate ab initio. In the interest of peace and equity, he ordered the recipients to quickly return the certificate to the ministry which they have now done. I am sure more information will come from the honorable commissioner on the next line of action to resolve the leadership crisis in Amichi.”

Meanwhile, in a royal address to Ndi Amichi by the traditional ruler of the community, HRH Barr. Dr. Alphonsus Ofobuike Ezeoke, he revealed that the government has ordered a fresh election into the town union leadership. The statement signed by the erudite traditional ruler himself reads in part;

I discussed extensively with Commissioner Hon. Tonycollins Nwabunwanne regarding the matter. He was saddened by the negative utterances associated with the mandate. I apologized to him on behalf of Amichi, and assured him of our allegiance to his office and the government of Anambra state. The government has ordered a fresh President General election by Okpala Quarter and for presentment and affirmation by Amichi. The Commissioner’s office will publish the election modalities and the presentment formula. It is therefore imperative that we civilly seek a consensus candidate for our dear town. There is no “Igwe’s candidate” or “Chisco’s candidate.” Let us find “Our candidate.”

A cross section of key stakeholders in Amichi have welcomed the development as a strategic pathway to a peaceful Amichi, noting that Igwe Ofobuike’s disposition to a free and fair fresh election process is the foundation to achieving the much needed peace Cin the community.

AMICHI MAGAZINE shall continue to monitor developments on this long-standing issue that has left the once peaceful town at crossroads.
