COVID-19: Pay Us €170,000 For Our Herbal Drug, Madagascar Tells Nigeria.
The Republic of Madagascar has asked Nigeria to pay 170,000 Euros for the herbal drugs sent to the Federal Government for the cure and treatment of COVID-19 patients in the country.
Recall that Madagascar had sent an unascertained quantity of its herbal drugs, COVID Organic, to Nigeria through Guinea Bissau, and the Federal Government had confirmed delivery of the product on Saturday.
Receiving the consignment delivered by the Guinea Bissau President, Umaro Embalo, President Muhammadu Buhari said Nigeria would subject the drug to intensive medical scrutiny to determine its efficacy.
A report by The Nation quoted as source as saying: “For our consignments in Guinea Bissau, Madagascar has asked Nigeria to pay over €170,000 (N78, 200,000).
“We have received the invoice because the African country has made us to realise that the drugs are not being given out free.
“We are being asked to pay for the drugs yet to be validated. Since the AU directed the supply of the drugs to African countries, we may have no choice than to pay for it.
“This payment may, however, be one-off because mass importation of the drugs from Madagascar will not be cost effective. By the time we take into account the cost of freight, the amount will be too high.
“This is why we are looking at local options available to us as a nation.
“Some researchers have told us that we have richer herbs to contain COVID-19. In fact, a shop in Wuse 2, Abuja has been discovered to be selling Artemisia Tea with high potency than COV drugs.

I don’t understand why you have to pay for drugs you earlier told us was sent to you free. Besides, if someone sends goods to you for testing and validation, you are not supposed to pay for it because you haven’t proven its efficacy yet. It is when you place an order for the tested product that you are supposed to make payment for your order. I don’t know if these people are breathing through their anus.
