Police arrests dismissed sergeant in Bauchi for alleged motorcycle snatching, impersonation
The police in Bauchi State on Monday arrested a dismissed police sergeant who is a serial motorcycle snatcher.
This is contained in a press release signed on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, by the Bauchi State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Mohammed Wakil and made available to AMICHI MAGAZINE on Thursday.
The PPRO, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), informed that the suspect, Makama Musa, 34-year-old, was arrested about 8:30 p.m on Monday by police operatives from Yelwa Police Station in Bauchi, the state capital, along Dass Road in police uniform.
“On the 22/06/2020 at about 2030hrs, patrol team attached to Yelwa Police Station Bauchi arrested a serial motorcycle snatcher, one dismissed Police Sergeant, Makama Musa ‘M’ aged 34 years of Gombe, the state capital.

“However, the dismissed sergeant was arrested wearing police uniform along Dass road following series of complaints by residents of the area. The suspect confessed to the crime,” the police spokesman stated in the release.
According to DSP Wakil, a blue shirt and black trouser; a rank of sergeant and police badge; and a Boxer motorcycle with number plate DBM-319-UR, Bauchi were recovered from the suspect.
He stated that the Commissioner of Police, Jimeta, had directed that the case should be transferred to SCID for discreet investigation, after which the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution/possible conviction.
The PPRO added that CP Jimeta has assured members of the public that the Command was committed to the fight against crime and criminality in the state and will appreciate every useful information that will assist in arresting and prosecuting criminal elements.
