UPDATE: Enoch Nwosu, Slain Man Dumped In Amichi Was Gay – Source
Facts have continued to emerge on the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the dead body of a middle-aged man dumped along Amichi-Okigwe expressway, who was later discovered to be one Enoch Nwosu of Enugwu-aja village, Ichi town.
A crack investigation from the men of the Nigerian Police over the crime has so far yielded some arrests, including the prime suspects, one Emmanuel Nwafor(23 years) and Chukwuebuka Obi(21 years) both from Amichi in Nnewi South local government area of Anambra state.
Police sources revealed that the suspects had lured the deceased to a compound in Ihe village, Amichi where they extorted a huge sum of money from him and murdered him in the process before dumping his lifeless body in a forest in Amichi.
The victim was said to have left his home since Saturday 4th July in his Lexus 330 Jeep with Reg No. ZBL 38RL.
Police detectives visited the scene of the crime on Monday, 6th July where the body was recovered and deposited at the mortuary after it was certified dead by a medical doctor.
The fleeing suspects were consequently arrested after failed attempts to sell the stollen car in Asaba. The deceased’s Lexus Jeep and other valuables were also recovered from them.
On Friday, 10th July 2020, two other suspects were arrested by the Police operatives attached to the Divison for interrogation. The police has also gone on manhunt to track down all the fleeing accomplices.
However, a source very familiar with the case who does not want his name mentioned revealed to our correspondent that the deceased, a gay, was “in love” with the suspect’s brother, later started “dating” the suspect whom he promised to open a barber shop for, the suspect being a professional barber. The deceased eventually commenced another entanglement with the suspect’s friend which ostensibly angered the suspect, possibly degenerating to a bad end.
The anonymous source further revealed to our reporter that the suspects upon torturing the deceased, obtained his bank information and siphoned about N1.6M from the deceased’s account.
This allegedly corroborates police sources which had disclosed earlier that the tragedy is that of a homosexual love affair gone sour. The deceased was alleged to be in a love relationship with the suspects before things fell apart among them.
Among the arrested is the suspect’s mother who allegedly blocked all entries to her house, stopping one passerby who wanted to know what was happening when he heard noises from the house, allegedly when the deceased was being tortured.
In the meantime, all the suspects have been transferred to SARS department at Ichi for further investigations.
